    Unvented system losing pressure

thanks, I’ll give this a try. I know I have one double rad where only one panel gets hot. I’ve tried bleeding it but it must be blocked as no air comes out. Could this be causing the issue?

    Unvented system losing pressure

Thanks, I’ll give it a try. When pressure is at 0.8, the boiler fires up but then cuts out after a min or two. I can hear gurgling coming from the pump but the rads don’t heat up. The boiler keeps firing up every few mins (green light comes on) but the. cuts out again.

    Unvented system losing pressure

Hi all, looking for some suggestions to try and understand why my system is losing pressure. I have a system boiler serving an unvented hot water cylinder and central heating. Central heating circuit is set to 1 bar but drops to 0.8 every 1-2 days but doesn’t drop any further. central heating...

    Constructional hearth advice

Thanks for the info. Are you saying that you can use 90mm of fire board above timber floors as a constructional hearth?

Do the same rules apply if the stove is not in a fire recess (i.e. free standing in the room)?

    Constructional hearth advice

Hi, I’m in the process of building an extension with a suspended timber floor. An after thought was the wood burning stove! I now need to retrofit a constructional hearth of 125mm but I’m conscious of the additional weight of this with the stove and the flue above. my thinking is to remove...

    Tiling in the rain

Thanks for the replies. I see your points regarding the membrane sitting on the osb. If I can remove it without damaging it (it is only temporarily held in place as the battens will hold it permanently) then I'll create a gap between it and the osb. The main issue of tiling in the rain clearly...

    Tiling in the rain

Thanks for the prompt (albeit slightly sarcastic!) reply. My main concern was trapping that amount of moisture under the tiles. I am planning on adding the counter battens above the membrane, as in the pic below. I'm not sure why I would need to allow for draping of the membrane? Surely any...

    Tiling in the rain

Hi, I've built a lean-to porch on my house. I've got OSB sarking fixed to the rafters and covered it in Cromar breathable membrane. I'm ready to put the laths on and fix the Marley modern tiles. I was hoping to get it done this week as the scaffold gets collected on sat morning but the forecast...

    Installing new gas combi

Hi, I'm currently renovating an old house which has an oil fired boiler serving central heating radiators. The boiler is inconveniently placed in the pantry in the kitchen and I want to relocate it to a detached brick built shed about 2 meters away from the house. My questions are; 1- Are...
