    Tiling over this? Or remove...

OK, thanks all. I'll damp the floor down and remove them, I don't think it will be difficult to get them up in-tact from what I've seen so far. Yes, floor level was a concern as the intended new tiles are much thicker. There's plenty of clearance for the front door and I'm not particularly...

    Large-ish cracks. Fillable, or replaster?

Thanks for the advice! This sounds do-able even for me haha.

    Tiling over this? Or remove...

Hi all, I've lifted an old carpet and want to tile this hallway. Underneath there are some very thin tiles, quite a few are broken, and some that aren't can be pulled up without much effort. In addition to this there is a slanted lip between the hall and the next room. I was wondering if...

    Large-ish cracks. Fillable, or replaster?

Hey all, First time renovator here, looking for some advice on something i found when removing wallpaper. Images below, but essentially these cracks look pretty big and I'm wondering: - Would it be possible to fill these with something like Tupret and then sand it back and paint over it? - Or...

10volt drill enough for steel lintel?

Hi all, I'm trying to put curtain rails up and have hit up against steel lintels. Decided against a batten as I'm not convinced of its strength so want to drill through. I've got some hss bits ready to give it a go but my drill is an old 10volt black and decker..... Would this be powerful...

Heating only working when water is on? DIY, or not?

It does, possibly because I've put it back on wrong? Or does that suggest the valve is so tight its trying to move that and just moving itself instead. Tried to add a video showing this but files too large.

Heating only working when water is on? DIY, or not?

So, I've popped the actuator off and I can move the pin with my fingers but it only travels a tiny bit, millimeters really. I've put the actuator back on and when I switch the water and heat on (or off) the head rotates. Does this still suggest it is the head, or the valve itself that's gone?

Amazing, thanks both for the advice and very prompt replies. I'll get on and order one.

Heating only working when water is on? DIY, or not?

Images attached of airing cupboard, and where the pipes feed into the boiler. Perhaps dense of me, but as it was working fine, I assume its not a 'it wasn't put in right' issue, so much as something internal has gone wrong, possibly where the thermostat talks to the boiler? Thanks both for...

Heating only working when water is on? DIY, or not?

Hi all, hoping someone can help here. Recently moved into a house with an old-looking Baxi system boiler and a Honeywell Thermostat. I had no issues for our first month or so here, but the other day I noticed that despite putting the heating on via the thermostat the boiler didn't kick in...

Plaster (type stuff) on top of paper covering divide in wall?

Hi all, Totally new to diy, new (old) house and lots to be done. Started stripping paper in one room and have found a line, floor to ceiling. Where paper has been put up and then had a filler or plaster type substance put over the paper, presumably in a bad attempt to smooth this area. It's...
