Has anyone heard of a geotextile being used in conjunction with flexi adhesive to strengthen the base for floor tiling?
I have laid down 4mm ply on a floor that is close to but not 100% rigid so was told that this was an option instead of pulling up the ply and replacing with thicker ply...

The joist spans at least 3 metres but i cant really tell. The notch is for 2 inch drainage pipe so not large (but large enough for building control to want it reinforced) and it isnt a purlin but an underfloor joist..
are these single sided timber connectors hard to come by...
how would one reinforce a 300mm x 75mm joist with a steel plate.. with the idea that the steel plate would support the joist in the area where notching of the joist has teken place?

can someone tell me what the main difference is in using a knuckle bend versus a swept bend for a corner with 2 inch drainage pipe?
Are there places where one or the other should specifically be used..
I have knuckle bends instead of swept bends and i dont want to go out and buy more swept...

I need to notch out a space for drainage in the floor joists and the building officers have said that i need to support the joist with a steel plate..

I have a vent or grate that exists in my kitchen underneath where i will be putting a new sink. Is this vent necessary or can i close it up?
It allows for draughts and doesnt seem to actually serve a purpose. Can someone let me know what i should do?
