Silicone sealant and a wide gap between showerbase and tiles

Having posted the question I then did what I should have done first....read the instructions on the side of the tube.....which say for bigger gaps.....pack out with paper or foam rubber. :D

Silicone sealant and a wide gap between showerbase and tiles

Having just replaced a number of tiles, and re-fixing the showerbase, I now need to redo the silicone sealant. Only one problem, on one side the gap between the tiles and the showerbase is around 8mm which I think is a bit wide just to fill with sealant. Is there anything else that people...

    Shower running too hot

It is a Gainsborough Energy 1000+. We've tried the descaling route and whilst it makes a slight difference, it still runs too hot. I think you may have come close to an answer though, I need to look at showerheads that have larger holes, as this will increase the water flow. This was why I...

    Shower running too hot

Evening all ! I am sure I am missing something really obvious here, but.... We have a Gainsborough electric shower in the main bathroom that runs way too hot with a shower head attached. Remove the shower head, and run the shower with just the hose attached, it works fine. I have tried...

Wall panelling for a shower cubicle?

Our bathroom needs doing and the shower has leaked for a while, grout between the tiles has given up and I am thinking of stripping the whole lot out to replace with pvc wall panels. This will mean taking out the shower cubicle, removing the shower tray before I remove all the tiles, and then...

Running a spur off a cooker circuit?

To clarify a couple of points re my original posting. I referred to a CCU being the Cooker Connection Unit, or as others call the outlet plate. The supply from the main fuse board goes to a cooker connection switch, or CCU as people appear to refer, and then onto the outlet plate, into which...

Running a spur off a cooker circuit?

It is a gas hob and the cable running to the cooker is 10mm I think. The socket is already in place, currently running as a spur off another socket, so I'm actually just re-routing the cable. I can no longer use the existing source for the spur as I've just swapped it for something nicer...

Running a spur off a cooker circuit?

Thanks for the replies - I appreciate it may not be the best solution. Would the socket be best coming off the cooker switch or the CCU ? With regards to the oven load, main oven is 2.5Kw, top oven/grill is 1.85Kw / 2.6Kw.

Running a spur off a cooker circuit?

I've read several old posts in regards to this, but I'm still not really sure if I can do what I would like to, so advice would be much appreciated! My cooker runs off it's own 32A circuit, connected to a cooker switch unit, and then wired into a CCU. Can I run a spur off either the cooker...

Replacing a Triton Opal shower - recommendations and advice

Morning all, My Triton Opal shower has finally given up the ghost after over 10 years service, so I'm now looking for a replacement. This one I think is the 9.5Kw version so am looking for something similar. Three queries, 1 - Which showers can I use to replace, in terms of backplate...

    Triton Opal shower problem

Thanks for the pointers regarding the elements and/or pcb. Checked elements with mulitmeter, both reading 11.6 ohms. Then checked pcb, no response on relay when button for heat 2 pressed. Replaced pcb, everything working perfectly.....except there was water coming from the inside of the unit...

    Triton Opal shower problem

Thanks for clarification as to which bit does what :) Based on what you are saying then, it would appear the elements are not working correctly. We have to turn the flow dial to around 9 before it is hot enough and it does not make a difference which button it is set on, either 2 or 3...

    Triton Opal shower problem

Hi, We have a 10 year old Triton Opal which does not appear to be working properly in that there is no difference in flow when you press either button 1 or 3 for the hot supply. The light switches from 1 to 3, so the selection button is working, but the flow of water from the shower head does...

Potterton Flamingo does not stop heating

Boiler looks like it is behaving itself, just working differently than when last used. Previously it would fire up for a few minutes, then switch off, then back on again. Now it is firing for a lot longer before switching off. Thanks very much for the input! Paul

Potterton Flamingo does not stop heating

Room stat is working - I turn it to say 25C and the boiler fires up, then turn it to say 18C, the boiler shuts down. When you say boiler stat, the only control has "min, 2, 3, 4, 5, max"....usually set at 3. Anyway set that to "min", about 5 mins ago....and the boiler is still going. If I...
