    Re attach Handrail up stairs

thanks for that, I'm trying to avoid moving it ideally though as will result in filling 12 holes then re-painting over and I suspect the paint colour won't match anymore. Is resin an option do you know?

    Re attach Handrail up stairs

Hi all, the handrail has come loose up our stairs and there have clearly been previous attempts to repair it so the holes for the screws are now much enlarged. Is there something I can fill the holes with to then re-drill and put new plugs in? Or can anyone suggest any good ways to fix this...

    Consumer unit advice

Right. Wow. Thanks fellers.I've understood your responses and yes I reckon I can use the equipment. Am I confident enough to do it easily and second nature like you would? Nope. I spend a lot of time working it all out and thinking it through. And I'm relying on your advice to tell me what to...

    Consumer unit advice

Good question, it doesn't appear to be connected to anything! So we can use that space, but we were planning to run a separate new feed for the boiler from there.

    Consumer unit advice

It was an electric shower but that's coming out actually. We're hoping to put the hob in there instead, I was asking if it's ok to do that, you know, given that the others on that side are lighting. It already seemed odd to me to have a big shower connected there. So if I take that out, is it ok...

    Consumer unit advice

Yeah you're right, sorry. I mean that there's a space for an MCB (if that's the correct term) on the set of switches on the right of the CU, all of which have an RCD

    External outside socket advice

Hi Can I add an external socket for the back wall of the house onto an existing ring? Or does it have to have it's own RCD? Thanks H

    Consumer unit advice

Hi I'm installing a new hob and want to connect it to its own RCD in the CU. The only spare space in the CU is on the right side where all the lights are. Can I put in a 32amp RCD in that space? Thanks H

    Kitchen wiring advice please

No it's a separate oven and hob. the oven will be 3m away from the hob

    Kitchen wiring advice please

Got it. Thanks. The oven spec says it can be either plugged in or hardwired so we can do either, although it would be no problem to have another circuit if that's better, so we'll do that. I find your response interesting though, that if it's hard wired it needs another circuit, but not if it...

    Kitchen wiring advice please

Hi I'm looking to install a new induction hob and oven. For the hob, it is 7kW and will be 5m from the CU. I assume it needs a 6mm cable and it's own 32amp MCB. Should it be a radial or a ring? For the oven, it's 3kW and only 3m from the CU. Can it be on the main kitchen ring or does it need its...

    Insulating a garage

Thanks noseall. It is an integrated garage, below an existing bedroom. There are cavity masonry walls ( but not insulated cavity). The current floor is solid concrete, could I build s timber frame in the floor and insulate that or would I need to screed it?
