    Extension

I'm having a two storey 2x2metre extension on the back of my house. I have had a few quotes at around £25K which seems fair but each quote has been on the back of an envelope. I know I should be more scientific in my approach but I've no idea where to start. When i ask for more detail builders...

    Leaking Plastic Compression Joint

I think I've cocked up! I have installed a shower pump however the outlet valve of the pump is leaking. It connects to a copper pipe via a plastic nut and olive and I think I have overtightened this causing the valve to distort. I have bought a new nut and olive and tried fitting a new copper...

    Plastic Nuts!

Situation: Power Shower pump with plastic screw outlet secured to copper pipe by plastic nut and olive. Leaking therefore I tightened nut. No, big mistake. This makes leak twice as bad. I think I've ended up distorting the outlet though it seems to look OK. Any suggestions??????????

I have an ground floor 18 ft extension which runs along the front of my house. I would like to convert this to a pitched roof for cosmetic reasons. The extension protrudes about 3 foot and I would like the pitch to run at say 45 Degrees. Bearing in mind I am only barely adequate at DIY; is this...

    Ceiling Cracks

We have bought a relatively new house and I am really chuffed that all the walls are nicely plastered and unpapered. Not being particularly blessed with decorating skills I,m llooking forward to watching the wife paint the walls whilst I offer advice from the couch. One snag. She has agreed to...

    Redundant Head Tank- I think!!!!

The header tank measures 2ft x 3ft with 2ft depth. The pipe overhanging the tank has a gauge of about an inch and there is a slightlt smaller pipe which connects from the bottom of the tank into the expansion tank. The boiler is a conventional floor mounted boiler. Thanks!

    Redundant Head Tank- I think!!!!

We're a bit short of room with the start of a new family in a new home so pushing some junk into the loft seemed like a good idea. However most of the loft is taken up by a head tank which doesn't seem to be filling any purpose. The water inside seems to be stagnant. We've run a few taps...
