We have bought a relatively new house and I am really chuffed that all the walls are nicely plastered and unpapered. Not being particularly blessed with decorating skills I,m llooking forward to watching the wife paint the walls whilst I offer advice from the couch. One snag. She has agreed to do the painting as long as I sort out all the various cracks in the ceiling. I can't plaster for the life of me. I've tried fine crack polyfilla This removes the cracks :( but then gives me an uneven surface. Is re skimming the only answer?

you can use decoraters caulk and paint. simply squeeze some caulk out onto a small piece of board, mix in some emultion to thin out a bit, work this into the crack with a scraper, then brush flat with a paint brush dipped in emultion, obviously using same colour as finish coat.
