Hi,
My Vokera Excell 80SP is not firing up, either for heating or hot water (the pilot light is on though). The fan is on low speed and stops when I turn on the hot tap but the pump does not appear to be powering up (as far as I can tell with this being the first ever time I've looked at a...
I'm two outdoor lights. The first one is daisy chain wired to the second (or it would be if I could get all the wiring in the available space in the light fitting! I've wrestled with this for some time but can't get all the wiring (which is rather inflexible) to fit. Any suggestions?
I don't want to lower the fascia board as it is part of the design of the garage to have them level all round. I'm going to cut some notches in the purlins to allow a hidden gutter run behind the fascia board. Wish me luck!
I just meant that any rain would currently be trapped on the roof, so as to help explain where I am up to (i.e. lots of EPDM draped over the eaves boards). To trap the rain is not my strategy  Thankfully no rain is forecast for a week so I have time to figure out a guttering solution...
I've just built a new Tuin log garage but I haven't quite figured out how to sort out guttering and the Tuin guides don't offer any good ideas.
The problem is that the roof purlins get in the way of a run of guttering. Any suggestions very much appreciated!
You can see the purlins in the...
I plan to replace my ancient outside lights with something a bit more modern looking. Took a look at the wiring to the old lights and it wasn't really what I expected (and not just because of all the cobwebs!).
Is it normal that there appear to be 2 live, 2 neutral and 2 earth wires all...
I have about 12m of this style fence to paint and it looks as though it will be painful! Don't really want to use a sprayer due to overspray risk...
Any tips/advice?

I'm soon to build a log cabin and don't fancy manually nailing on all the roof boards - by my estimate it is about 500 nails! I would be nailing 18mm pine/spruce roofing boards into large pine/spruce purlins.
Would something like this Roybi 16g nailer be "man enough" for the job, or are the...
Sadly it's a protected tree in a conservation area so that is not an option. As much as the gutters blocking is frustrating, the tree (and others in the area) does enhance the character of the area.
Hah - I have tried extensive googling and like the poster above notes, gutter guards get very mixed reviews. Given how quickly my gutters accumulate leaves I'm sceptical about whether they will work so looking for the best solution available.
My house is under the canopy of a very large lime tree and my gutters are regularly blocking with leaves or seeds. I'm clearing them about once a week at the moment or in advance of any significant rain that is forecast!
Obviously clearing them so regularly cannot be a long term solution...
For the benefit of anyone else reading this thread. 5 litres was more than enough to do 3 coats all round. I probably have enough left to do another coat.
As far as I understand Sadolin Superdec (when given 3 coats) will provide 10 years protection.
