Hi
My folders view in outlook express (version 6) always defaults to what i assume is 'expand' mode, showing every single subfolder in the folder tree.
Even when I manually collapse the view to only show the top most folders, and then I exit OE, when I fire it back up again it simply...
Hey thanks for the advice. I will try that.
Can you recommend any specific online vendors for plumbing spares, or do you think it's best to go with a local merchant ?
The heating engineer fitted a new pump to eliminate the old pump as being the cause of the banging noises. This didn't...
Hello
Further to a recent posting, which helped to resolve a boiler lighting problem, a further problem has arisen in the form of loud banging noises from the pipes around the boiler, followed by the boiler overheat button popping out.
A heating engineer has sourced it down to a knackered...
OLLSKI - MAN, YOU ARE BRILLIANT.
If I hadn't been a sad git and posted up a piccie of the boiler fascia, and you hadn't taken the time to check it out, then I might still be stroking my chin.
I just remembered today what you said about the reset button.
So I went ahead an...
dan21mag. why might the fan flue need replacing? just interested to know what part this plays.
i am trying to locate the thermocouple, check out the following piccies i have taken - i assume it is integral to the gas pipe where the pilot light would normally appear (the pipe with the red...
Chaps, firstly thanks very much for taking the time to reply.
I removed the cover (after switching off the mains of course), and had a butchers inside. It all appears very simple and straightforward.
I looked at the electrode which ignites the pilot (have i got that right?). Anyway, the...
Hi
I have a Glow Worm EconomyPlus boiler, which has suddenly decided it's not going to fire up.
When the timer comes on, you can hear the pump come to life but there is no familiar 'click' to ignite. The pilot light is out.
My question - what would cause this, and is it down to a simple...
What's the best way to go about becoming a plumber?
I would prefer to hold down my day job concurrently while training.
It goes without saying, any advice would be much appreciated.
Hi
I have been instructed by my good lady that I must bring back to life the existing fireplace which we uncovered earlier this year. Indeed it would be nice to have a 'proper' fire again. It can be seen that this was once used as a coal/log fire since the original brickwork is still charred...

it's definitely open-vented then. there is a water storage tank in the loft, and there is a separate hot water cylinder tank next to the boiler. these are located in the back bedroom.

the pipe does go straight outside from the boiler, but there is no gauge...

I have bled the offending radiators - all clear water, no air came out.
how do I tell what sort of system i've got (excuse me ignorance). the boiler vents outside via a pipe - does this help?

who would have thunk it eh? all the pins were seemingly stuck, although an...
Just for info relating to Dave12's posting
Had a weird problem recently getting electric shocks off the oven frontage, and also off central heating pipes. And the biggest one of all was a right belter from the cold water tap on the outside of the house.
Had a sparky round to check things...
Hi
Just as winter descends (of course) 3 out of 4 upstairs radiators refuse to play ball.
All of the downstairs rads (there are 4) work fine.
I have viewed several other postings to try and glean some info, and tried switching off all the downstairs rads, and all the upstairs except for...
