    Tiliing over DPM

Hi all, I'm looking to tile our hallway, I've done a few bits and bobs in the past but never a whole room, although it's only about 2m x 1m. I'm a little concerned that i will need a special adhesive to go over the floor as it's covered in a shiny brown what looks like damp proof membrane. It's...

    phone line in shed

Thanks Lectrician I was looking at that type of cable and 200ft is easy. Great news indeed. With regard the PBX I will just use 2 cordless phones we already have which have an internal paging function to call each hand set. The PAYG mobile is a non starter as I've got no mobile coverage...

    phone line in shed

My father in law had just built a new shed at the bottom of his garden and would like a phone in there so he can ring his wife when he wants a cuppa! Problem is it's nearly 200ft from the house, he doesn't mind running a new telephone cable down the duct with the power cable, but will it work...

    Angle grinder and my finger

Just thought i'd show you what i did recently while cutting through an old soil pipe. Luckily i had a leather welding jacket on and welding gloves otherwise it could have been a lot worse. I managed to miss all the tendons and just kissed the main artery and bone...

68mm tannk connector or adater to 50mm

thanks nicnac i've now got 2 50mm tank connectors running into a 68mm down pipe tee branch and just a bit of gaffer tap to prevent any splashes coming out works a treat even in the massive storms of late.

68mm tannk connector or adater to 50mm

Thanks Foxhole but i think that only fits onto to the mniline 50mm guttering as the internal diameter is 45 whereas 2"(50mm) waste pipe has an internal diameter of 50mm. I might give the guy a ring though and double check, but like i thought as it's technically illigal to run a 50mm waste pipe...

68mm tannk connector or adater to 50mm

Hi all, I've got a bit of an interesting dilemma. I've installed a couple of large water butts inside our conservator to act as a thermal store to prevent temperature spikes. They heat up slowly in the day helping to reduce high day time temperatures and then slowly release the stored energy...

Damp inside on a cavity wall

Hi there, I've got a problem with damp in our downstairs loo. There has always been a little bit of black mold on the wallpaper ever since we moved 10years ago but i'd put this down to it being a cold external corner of the house which was poorly heated as the radiator in there hardly...

Storage heater wiring at consumer unit

Sorry for the confusion in my post i meant to say replace 30A fuses with 32A MCB's, my poor typing. I've done a bit more digging around and following cables. It looks like a three phase heating contactor (Heavy duty high Amperage relay switch) was used to try and split the load down from...

Storage heater wiring at consumer unit

Hi all, I've come across a bit of a problem in a house that i've never seen before, it has all electric heating, 10 storage heaters and 2 imersion heaters in the hot water tank. My problem is one of the existing 30A fuse holders that feeds 2 of the storage rads has overheated and melted part...

2 room stats in a normal open vented system

the stats in the bathroom, as the towelrail has no trv fitted and is the boiler overrun (heat dump rad) so you get nice warm dry towels when ever the boilers on HW or CH summer and winter. If i move the stat to the lounge if the fires not lit the room stat will have little or no effect in a room...

2 room stats in a normal open vented system

I'm looking into a way to prevent my central heating from coming on if my log burner is lit in the lounge. I basically want to install a 2nd room thermostat in the lounge above the log burner, so that when the fires lit and it quickly gets above 25C it will prevent the normal room stat in the...

How do i lay engineered wood flooring ?

I'm now totaly confused :!: I've been given a load of reclaimed engineered oak flooring whicj i intend to lay in my lounge over a solid concrete flor. It was removed because the new owner didn't like the colour and had only been down a few weeks! My friend who carefully lifted it told me...

Engineered oak floor how to lay.

No it looks much more in keeping with the floor. I've seen some really nice wooden floors spoilt by 2" quadrant being nailed down around the edge to hide the expansion gap. Is that the opposite prifile to quadrent i think it's called socita. The room is about 4.5m x 4m?
