Cheers for the reply mate. With regards to the newel post position - I'm really restricted in placement due to the newel post at the other end - the maximum I could straddle that string is by about 6mm due to the base rail needing to run from these into the centre of the newel post at the other...
Hi,
Hoping to get a bit of advice on fixing landing stair parts to an existing floor.
First question to get out the way - does the base rail need to be mortised into the two newel posts? (Pic 1)
Second - how is best to fix the base rail to the floor boards? Or is it only fixed to the...
So I now have the stair parts - a complete newel, a half newel, 14x spindles, base and hand rail.
I'm unsure of where to fix the newel to the top of the staircase. Normally I'm guessing these are fixed within the staircase for support and stability but in my case there is no existing newel to...
Hi,
I have some Oak skirting boards to fit over the weekend. I'd like to screw these in, however I'm a bit lost when it comes to hiding/filling the countersinks. I don't have a pillar drill, which seems to be mandatory to use plug cutters - so I'm not sure how to go about filling these holes...
Ah nice one - so take it these would snap around the pipe then I can seal around it ?
The only difficult thing is the angle the pipes go into the wall. Might end up having to look at changing the pipe work but really didn't want to take the tiles off.. :(
Bumping thread - really need a little advice on what to do with these holes?
They were pumped full of silicone then grouted on top around the pipes.
It's been suggested by someone I shown the pic to to take the tile off, alter the pipework so the pipes coming out the wall are at a straight...
Hi - the bottom of the stairs can be seen in pic #2 - it's a straight flight.
I was hoping I could have a handrail attached to the full wall on the right hand side (as you look up the stairs) as it seems a bit silly to have spindles and a handrail going up most of the wall on the left side to...
I have the following area which I'd like to get some Richard burbidge parts to have a go at filling with a nice landing (on the last pic running from the right hand section wall to the stair case)
Having gone through the RB design thing it came up with me needing a complete newel post, 14...
I have removed old mouldy sealant from around the bath and discovered that the gap around is inconsistent. Parts are very close with little to no gap but other areas the gaps are big (about 10mm)
What can I do ? Or is it just a case of using sealant with a massive cut?
Hi,
I have a pretty horrendous bannister that I'd like to do something with. See pics below ... can I get away with applying some Zinnser 123 after washing it - then apply satinwood? Or do I have to strip it down and start from scratch with it?
