not great to run it thru a ceiling above a bedroom - there are new regulations for flues-in-voids that you would need to think about. Inspection hatches would be required so the flue could be checked, Why not fit the new one in the kitchen

did you cut into the 22mm flow/return pipes or the 15mm pipes that go into the existing rads ? did you turn on the rads valves both ends ? did you bleed both rads so they are full of water ? try to turn off all other rads, do both now get hot ? If so, probably needs a bit of balancing -...

doesn't sound like there is a prv pipe fitted...............

red valves on these always leak - get hold of the newer magnaclean black valves and fit them instead.
