    Insulating my attached garage ?

Hi all I noticed my neighbour has insulated his up-and-over garage door, which is the same as mine, attached to the house and under half of the front bedroom (little daughters). It appears all he's done is bond Kingspan or Celotex panels to the inside of the metal door panel. I'm not...

Insulating between floorboards in 1930's house ?

Wow, thank you for all of the replies and all of you pretty much saying the same thing ... not really worth the effort. Unfortunately I can't do much about the suspended ground floor either because of the laminated flooring already over the top of the original flooring (fortunately there is a...

Insulating between floorboards in 1930's house ?

Hi All I live in a 1933, standard 3 bedroom house. However being an old house I don't have cavity walls. Even with all the other energy improvements I've made over the last few years, double glazing, better internal doors, new radiators and boiler system etc, the house still has a general...

Using slate effect ceramic tiles outdoors

Yeah, thanks, will have to give it some careful consideration when I get around to it, but looking quickly on Google and eBay etc, slate, even reclaimed slate, tends to be fairly expensive

Hi All A bit of an odd question, but this got me thinking ... I'm looking to re-edge my grass from the pathway, currently its just 15mm treated timber on edge, buried down about 4inches, leaving about 2inches on the grass edge face. I was looking to replace the wood with slate...

    Feather-edge board fencing ?

Hi All I'm in the process of buying the bits necessary to replace all of my dated exterior fencing. I'm looking to build a simple but rigid frame arrangement from 3" posts in the ground (some 6' apart) and 3"x2" rails top and bottom, running some 40' along the garden perimeter. However, my...

Upgrading a toilet syphon with handle flush ?

Thanks Seco Would I be right in thinking its this one from Screwfix http://www.screwfix.com/prods/51173/Plumbing/Toilet-Fittings/Fluidmaster-Cable-Dual-Valve ? And the hole in my existing handle-flush cistern would be the correct size for these Push-button types ? John

Upgrading a toilet syphon with handle flush ?

Hi All I'm looking to replace my failing toilet syphon with a new unit and was wondering if it is possible to replace for a push-button type directly ? Obviously replacing all the syphon section with a new body, but more questioning whether the handle hole is correct for the push button...
