Self-fusing tape for leaking copper pipe

This type. You can see the drip there, so it's not right on the bend.

Self-fusing tape for leaking copper pipe

I've read/seen good things about this self- fusing silicone tape, but all videos I've seen of people using it on YouTube have been a hole in the middle of a flat piece of pipe, or a hose. The leak I have under my sink is right on the joint. Will it still work on there or do I need something...

Making a coin slot in glass bottle

Bit of a random one here... I have a large, empty Jack Daniels bottle that im using to collect change - but the bottle neck isnt wide enough to put 2p or 50p coins in. I wanted to make a coin slot at the top of the body of the bottle, where i have marked it in red - any advice on how to do...

    Silicone around bath

These look great. We are planning to have a new bathroom fitted in the next 12-18 months so probably won't invest in these now, but certainly as option when we have the new one fitted.

    Silicone around bath

Thanks - I'm going to get the bath panel off at weekend and have a look at the feet. I know the previous owner was very meticulous about anything DIY so expect it was fitted properly, but I'll have a check of them anyway. Yes, the silicone was still attached to the bath, but a gap of a couple...

    Silicone around bath

Hello I had a bath yesterday, and only noticed when laying in the bath that the silicone has cracked at the back of the bath (opposite end to the taps). Last time I resealed it - around 12 months ago - I filled the bath with water, and didn't drain it until the silicone had cured. However, it...

Making new paint blend in with existing paint

This is how it looks after they came to fill the holes - running my hand down the wall it feels smooth so hopefully it will all paint over nicely. He said it won’t need a mist coat, and I can go straight to putting the top coat on? Also, the second photo is a small nick in the paint where they...

Making new paint blend in with existing paint

Thank you. I do have some left from the same tin, so yeah fingers crossed it all blends in. What about the mist coat on the new plaster? Try and keep that solely on the new plaster, or can it overlap a little onto the existing paint?

Making new paint blend in with existing paint

Hello I had new pipes put in for a radiator, then the room replastered and the pipes buried, and then redecorated. The plumber came back today to put the radiator on the wall and drilled through the pipe...so he’s had to chase out the wall and replace the pipe. A plasterer is coming tomorrow...

    Sanding down gloss paint

I sanded the skirting boards a few days ago, but to be honest I did a half-arsed job of one section of it - as the sofa's are going up against that area. We repainted them yesterday, however I'm now getting it in the neck from the Mrs now and she wants them doing properly in case we ever move...

Mist Coat AND Primer - or just Mist Coat?

I have had my living room walls and ceilings plastered, they are dried out, and now I'm ready to decorate. I know I need to do a mist coat on fresh plaster - but do I do the mist coat and then the undercoat, then my top coat? It's a big room so don't want to go over it three times, if mist...

    Plaster looks damp but isn’t

There is a vent on the chimney breast on the first floor.

    Plaster looks damp but isn’t

I didn't have the DPC done - it was already there, but it is like a black, smooth tar on the floor. But, yes, it is all dry. The other side of the wall is just the dining room bit - so it's no where near the kitchen sink/plumbing etc. There is no fireplace on the other side, just a radiator on...
