    External wood to paint

The good news is I’ve not bought the timbre yet! I’m on a bit of a budget, so obvs don’t want to spend too much. But also want it to last and look good. So which is the best timbre to go for, for an outside wooden structure, with the aim of a nice painted finish as opposed to looking like a shed?

    External wood to paint

Yes, but that wouldn’t give me the painted finish I want. I’m after a nice finish like an external door might have. Not like a fence of shed might have.

    External wood to paint

Hello, There’s a couple of garden projects I want to do which I’d like to have a painted finish. Which is the best wood for this? Can I paint pressure treated soft wood with primer and top coat? Cheers.

    Pendant to LED panel

Hi. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post. It’s much appreciated. The light was a Jemmison one from B&Q. Although flush fitting was an option it could also be suspended on little legs or long wires. The middle option proved best for us. In the end I attached it to the ceiling and used...

    Pendant to LED panel

Hello, We want to swap our pendant light in the office to an LED panel. I guess I’ll have to remove the ceiling rise and wire everything into a junction box of some kind. Can anyone suggest the best thing to use. The panel won’t be flush to the ceiling but obviously we won’t want to see wires...

    Landing carpet and pets

Hello, Our landing carpet is in a real state and needs replacing (with something), I think one of our pets has had some accidents on it. Might have been the dog when he was a puppy during lockdown. I’m concerned that if we replace the carpet with new carpet the issue will remain and the dog or...

    Laminate: stairs and landing

Hello, Our stairs and landing are currently old carpet but nice nice due to pets. We were going to recarpet, but expect the pets will creat the same issue. So we thought laminating would be a better option. our landing is L shaped. If we do laminate should the laminate run in one direction...

Attaching gate post to concrete fence post

Thanks for the help with this. There are 2 holes in the rebate which I could use! How had I not seen them before? Do all such fence posts have these holes in them? I‘m still not sure about the best thing to do though as due to the angle the gates on, if I fixed the gate post to the fence...

Attaching gate post to concrete fence post

Hello, One of our gate posts has failed. I think the best fix would be to attach a new gate post to the concrete fence post adjacent to it. Are these posts easy to drill into. I don’t have any fancy kit, just a hammer drill. Also I’ll probably be drilling into the rebate of the H. Is that...

    Garage door - flaky paint

Hello, We have a metal garage up and over door. Red paint, with a think, drippy coat of black on top. It’s quite large 4.5 m by 2 m. The paint is very flaky in places, revealing large areas of bare metal, but well stuck in other places. would it be advisable to remove all the old paint before...

    Adhesive for quartz tiles

Hello, Has anyone used BioGel adhesive for quartz tiles? I’m seeing differing recommendations, on which adhesive to use, with some websites suggesting a two part latex adhesive. Keragoll BioGel looks very good though, and sounds like it might make the job somewhat easier. Fwiw we are using...

    Backer board or plasterboard

Hi Thanks for the replies. I probably will go for the backer board. It’s only a small bath room, so won’t impact the cost too much. I’ve read that it can be plastered one primed. does anyone have any experience of this?
