    ideal elan casing seal

Yes, there was indeed a fanned version.Mine isnt. Thats why mine is named an RS40, if it was a fanned version it would then be called a 40F. OK?

    ideal elan casing seal

@ scottishgasman l; thanks for the honest & helpful reply! Pity the rest were not like you! BTW I did have several spares for the boiler but as I said its been fitted for 25 years or more now! I also have had experience of modern boilers being condemned after 6 or 7 years by reg gas fitters...

    ideal elan casing seal

boiler is balanced flue? casing pressure? a clue in the type? Why is it people do not actually read all of anyones posts? All you read was that I am not a paid up member of gas safe! As I already stated ( & please feel free to check this with HSE if you think Im making it up!) I AM...

    ideal elan casing seal

anyone any ideas where i could get a replacement seal for the casing of my 1986 ideal Elan balanced flue boiler? The original is beginning to fall apart now! Its just a kind of asbestos rope type thing so its probably possible to improvise? Please dont do the usual reply when I ask about my...

    convert heating to sealed system?

I would do so if I was still able to buy a similar conventional boiler! As Ive said, I dont want to buy one of the new condensing ones because although I know they are more efficient for gas use, they will cost far more in the long run due to their unreliability! I have several properties which...

    convert heating to sealed system?

Ive read on other forums that this boiler does have an o/h stat & in fact there was a sealed system kit available for it at time of production. No, Ive not had the system powerflushed only chemicals. Ill inquire about hiring such a tool & give that a go. The pump isnt making any strange...

    convert heating to sealed system?

Would it be advisable to convert my heating system to a sealed type? The reason I ask is my boiler often makes a kettleing noise. Ive tried the usual ideas - flushing, silencing treatments but after a while it becomes noisy again. The boiler is an Ideal Elan RS balanced flue unit which I...

    question about earth bonding

this one isnt eclectically heated, only water ( thru Hep2 PLASTIC piping, all the way to the boiler) BTW yes Im sure I would be jumping if I get a "belt" as you say, from the Spanish kitchen appliance, but I dont read about that many tourists etc who Do get zapped! _ maybe its 'cos most just...

    question about earth bonding

thanks, yes this is exactly what I thought! If it was earthed then Id guess that would actually make it MORE dangerous if you happened to touch it & a live wire?

    question about earth bonding

Fitted a new chrome towel rad in bathroom. Ive been told it has to be earth bonded despite being plumbed in Hep2! Where is the line drawn on these regulations? Do people earth bond their metal shower cabinet frames? How about a metal bog roll holder? A tap which has only flexy connections - how...

    fitting sliced up tiles?

my thoughts too! Unless he accepts that I wont be held responsible for the way it looks, only the way Ive fitted them! he was going to get someone else to cut them all (1200 of them!) -- with a wetsaw! LOL!

    fitting sliced up tiles?

he insists this is what he wants! Ive tried all kinds of arguments against! What I intend to do is lay some on a scrap of gyproc & let him see the pitfalls. I agree with you the core will almost certainly show in some places no matter how much care I take in grouting! Maybe I should just...
