    Thanks for your most helpful reply... But in actual fact I did wire everything correctly, It's just who wired before me didn't mark the live switching wire.. So I swapped round the two red wires and it works... As far as I'm aware both the red and black wires should be in the holes marked...

    weird plaster

    Just removed wallpaper of a 1870s house and thus is what greeted me.. Its brown and almost looks like a woodgrain finish.. Its smooth to the touch but where bits have come away its crumbly underneath. Any ideas what it and can I just paint over it? Cheers
