    Multi-vent system manufacturers

Dear forum members! Would you be so kind and help me understand the actual difference between the following multi-vent offerings on the UK market? They are of identical dimensions and almost identical design. But the prices are very different (£30, £120 and £220)! What's the catch? Isn't...

    Kidde K10SCO vs Kidde K4MCO

Thank you for explaining! I guess the premium is paid for the 'interconnected' bit and for the battery backup. Due to your explanation I've changed my mind and now went to buy exactly the same as the old one (mains-powered, interconnected). It's more expensive, but I don't want to violate the...

    Kidde K10SCO vs Kidde K4MCO

Dear forum members! Can someone please explain to me why can't I install the cheaper combination CO alarm (K10SCO) instead of the more expensive K4MCO? Both are carbon monoxide alarms, but one is significantly cheaper! Thank you in advance!

Extending bathroom wall tiles and moving tile trim

Sorry for taking so long to respond! In the end I have removed all damaged paint from the wall, filled in where necessary, sanded down and painted with a high-quality paint made specifically for bathrooms. A few years of regular splashing on - the wall is still in good state!

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

All is dead. All is dead. Then I turn ON the second RCD and the loft sockets come up (all MCBs are still OFF). Is that normal?

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

Thank you for explaining! Is it worth getting an expert in then? I guess so!

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

Understood! So that label is not labelling the "MK Sentry 63A RCD" right above it, but rather describes all the other circuits. I don't suppose there is some sort of a convention for newbuilds that would explain what is the role of these 63A RCDs? For illustration purposes, here is the full...

Will provide this tomorrow, thank you! Sadly, not comfortable, apologies!

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

That's the thing - all RCDs OFF (Apart from the large one called "RCD Protected Circuits") and the sockets upstairs are still working! What would explain it? Are they wired-in directly without a separate breaker? Excellent, thank you!

RCD-protected circuit that is not on a separate breaker

Hello DIYNot forum members! I need to find a suitable and accessable place to add a switched 3A-fused spur for a boiler. I have two accessible rings to add it to: 1) Upstairs lights - not suitable, as it lives on a 6A RCD (B6) 2) A mysterious 63A RCD Protected Circuits breaker that gives power...

    Accessing bathroom box behind tiles

I suspect that we will need to take off much more tile if the work is to continue. But in principle I've picked up the following access hatch from eBay: Will probabaly remove some grout between the plasterboard and the surrounding tiles around the perimeter and stick in the 'rails' using adhesive

    Accessing bathroom box behind tiles

Used grout removal + wood multitool blades and a suction cap. Not enough access to do any serious work, but more than enough to help assess what's inside (electricals, gas, water).

Thank you all! Will try to come up with some clever way of getting access!
