As a suggestion. You could, use the SLC. And if there's any un-even areas. Damp is down and Tickle it with a flush cut blade attached to a grinder (preferably a variable speed to minimise dust)

The only thing I can think of. Is if you have a chimney you don't use anymore? Sneak it in from the top. And bring it into your loft? Then you can distribute it to a room from there..
Wouldn't do any harm putting a bit of insulation down there mate.
I'd try to use insulation board incase condensation gets to it. Ruins the wool form if it gets wet
I've been on a castle job in Oxford recently. And the plasterers there were using lime plaster.
If you can afford it, I'd go with it.
It's breathable, which means that moisture can escape through the walls. So you should continue having no damp.
The finish is slightly more textured than...

Alternatively. You could drill 12mm holes, where the screws go, and hammer in some 12mm dowels from your local DIY shop. I'd probably glue them in too. PVA glue is best, just let it dry for a day or so before screwing.
Either way, is relatively easy :)
