Leaking kitchen tap at swivel base

Thanks for the response - def no grub screw in the back of the tap body however we're struggling to pull the spout out. Should it come off fairly easily or does it require a good degree of force - maybe we're just being too cautious? Thanks again. Pete

Leaking kitchen tap at swivel base

We were about to call out a plumber to replace our leaking kitchen tap - the leak seems to be at the base of the swivel. Having removed the skirt/cover though, it looks as though we might have a hole on the washer - is this common and is it as simple as removing it with a screwdriver and...

    Help! Basic plumbing question

Many thanks John - first problem solved. Where we've been wiggling the waste pipe from the bath about, we have however now got another small leak from what seems to be the plug-hole. Can we use some sealant (plumbers mate?) underneath as a short term fix or do we need to take the plug out...

    Help! Basic plumbing question

I'm going to apologise in advance for asking what is going to be an extremely basic question. We've noticed a smell under our bath for a few days and after taking off the bath panel have seen a pretty fundamental problem - two of the pipes aren't connected anymore! Can someone give me...

Wet conservatory ceiling - caused by condensation?

[net] Am hoping someone may be able to give some advice on our conservatory - over recent days we've noticed some wetness on the ceiling by the bay window. It's always at its worst in the morning, to the point that we sometimes see a small amount of water having dripped on the floor. It...

    Loft insulation - Advice needed

Apologies if a similar question has been asked previously – as a novice DIYer at best I’m getting somewhat confused by the range of options available and would appreciate some guidance on my best course of action. I live in a converted bungalow so my daughters bedrooms upstairs lead directly...

Water left in bottom of Hotpoint FDL570 Dishwasher

Apologies in advance if this has been answered elsewhere - I have had a quick search and couldn't find anything exactly the same. I have a Hotpoint FDL570 Dishwasher - at the end of the cycle there's a small covering of water on the bottom. Nothing major at this stage but it does seem to be...

    Main HE15 Boiler Problem

Hi all, I'd be grateful if I could get A second opinion on an issue that we have had with our boiler over the last 10 days or so. The boiler itself is c. 7 years old and generally has given us no issues – it was last serviced in September 2013. At the start of last week, we began to...

Smell in cupboard - advice needed.

Thanks for all the responses and also Boilerman2's excessive use of smiley faces. Nothing to report behind the cupboard - what I have learnt is that turning my HW Thermostat down to 55-60 has seemingly had no effect - the water temp is scalding hot still. So I think the thermostat's gone...
