    Painting render

Just dilute your first coat with 1 litre of water per 10litre paint. After that it just goes on as usual. I prefer a purdy fleece roller and a decent masonry brush.

    Shower screen leak, my mistake?

Has the screen been fitted upside down? The bottom part usually has a small drip hole in it, to allow the water build up to leak back into the bath. Check the same part at the top to see if there is a hole there.

Does anyone know what tool I need - unusual hinge I think!

I`m no expert, but I think all you need is an allen key to fit the side and maybe bottom of the hinge to adjust the door. I don`t think the top of the hinge in the pic has anything to do with it.

    Matching Skirting Boards

You could trim the bottom of this to the correct size. 140mm Torus Plastic Skirting Board 2.9m | White | Building Plastics Tele 0333 050 0585 Looks similar to me.

    Internal door conundrum

I`m going to replace my internal doors with like for like hollow doors. One of the frames looks to have a slight bow in the middle on the hinge side. Would you plane the door to fit the frame or plane out the bow in the frame itself? Jase.

Need advice getting rid of mice

Snap traps with a little nutella chocolate spread. We put some flour on the floor in the kitchen and hall to see where they were mainly coming and going via there foot prints.

    Skirting boards - question

Why go to the expense of nice new flooring and bodge the skirtings? Ripping out a channel for the flooring to fit under the skirting sounds like a right ball ache.

    Cracking coving

Thanks for taking time out to reply. I`ll try removing the distemper and re coating with emulsion.

    Cracking coving

We have been in the house eleven years and the coving was already there. 3 different rooms has had the same effect when painted. Even just cleaning it with sugar soap has the same results. It's like the layer of paint hasn't bonded with the coving.

    Cracking coving

How do I repaint plaster coving without the paint cracking? Tried painting it with normal Matt emulsion and it turned a bit soggy and started cracking.

    Airgun advice?

A SAK sound moderator that costs £40 would be more than suitable for an air rifle. It`s not until you get up to full bore shooting you need to worry about a good quality moderator. I wouldn't go down the NV route either, a decent air rifle with a t50 torch and a red led will do fine.

    Concrete decking blocks

I take it the ground underneath would need to be level? You do get blocks which can be height adjusted for a perfect level.

    Leveling decking over old slabs

Just use offcuts of joists or posts as legs and attach them once you have your level.

    Something about decking

That would be fine. You could also use offcuts of joists to keep the frame off the slabs as well.
