Ideal have been brilliant, they took a look at the video and correctly diagnosed the problem. Armed with a new gas valve, a local fitted it in an hour and the noise has gone. The HE30 (not HE24 as per title) lives on!

I put the feelers out earlier and just had one back - one GSE in Consett simply said "It's ****ed". This is exactly why I'm not getting any Tom Dick Harry out again. Surely its "****ed" for a reason. :rolleyes:

I managed to get the plate off, reconditioned it, cleaned up with a craft tool and fitted a new seal - all is good, in that area at least. It was a bit of a pita as the pipe, pump, heat exchanger etc had to come out the way, not worth the hours a GSE would charge to do it, and I had to do it...
