Painting Kitchen Units. Which paint & primer - oil / acrylic

Back to an age old question about painting kitchen cupboard. Should I use Crown Extreme Primer, or Owatrol Easy Surface Prep. Then for the top coat, should I be looking at an oil or water based paint? Some people seem to suggest Dulux Satinwood, or Little Greene. Which is more durable, and...

Roof lining, plastic does it need replacing?

Tiling on suspended timber floor, minimum height

Hi, I have an area that is on a suspended timber floor. Joists are 2x6 and 2m60 span. Joists at 400mm. The floor has UFH fitted between the joists. I want to tile, but adding ply to the chipboard floor will affect the UFH and raise height too much. Are there any options that raise the height...

Can my joists take extra weight

I have a extension with 6x2 floor joists that span 2.6m with 400mm centres secured by joist hangers on both sides. Floor is chipboard with tiles. Is this joist span sufficient to carry the extra load of a pug screed under the floorboards. This will add approx 25kg/m

Timber frame wall query. Multifoil or PIR detail.

I am looking to build a timber frame wall with insulation up to current standards (lean to shed). The problem I have is that I need to build close to the boundary, and so have difficulty in accessing the one wall from the outside. The wall s about 2.5m long, I therefore need to make in sections...

Good programmable thermostat? (not Drayton Digistat!)

Assume you are referring to stats with optimisation (i.e adjust start time depending on tempreture), and Time Proportional Integral control -When the room temperature approaches the set point, it then calculates how many minutes are required within each firing period to satisfy the set...
