Hi

I have just had a room re-plastered. I put in new Window seals, and I was going to Varnish them. However. By the time the plasterer had finished. they now have several stains over them. Presumably from the water he was using.

Do any of you have any ideas on how to remove these? I have heard you can use bleach on wood, though I know nothing about that.

Thanks

You can use bleach on wood but use a 1 part bleach to 3 parts water solution and rinse well with clean water afterwards. The problem you possibly face is a difference between the bleached area and the non-stained.

Will the stain not rub out with a fine grit sandpaper?

No...Sanding it was the first thing I tried.

Do I bleach the whole seal, or just the affected areas?

I'd bleach the whole seal so that you get an even finish.
