All the doors in my house are white MDF embossed doors with a grain vinyl finish. I was looking at painting them but i'm having trouble finding a suitable primer. Can anyone recommend a suitable primer so I can paint them?

Thanks

If you mean the 4/6 panelled hollow doors then they are already factory primed so you can use a couple af coats of an acrylic primer undercoat (I use Leyland) to give a decent base to apply your topcoat/s to. You could just use an oil based undercoat but it takes a lot longer to dry meaning you can't always get two coats on in a day, so I prefer the first method.

Hope I've got the right type of doors!

If they are white they only need a top coat.

To be honest one topcoat will not stand up too well on a new primed door. An undercoat of either oil based or acrylic will make the job much better.

these doors look white but they always need a good undercoat i always use an acrylic one first then oilbase and finish with gloss or eggshell depending what finish the customer wants

I suspect the edges of the doors may be bare wood, in which case knotting solution on the knots, primer, sand, probably two undercoats and top coat.

There are hundred of primer available in the market which help you a lot. But before use it you should have to check that you remove sustain as well.. If we do it then chose best primer. I come back with top primer which listed in top choices of all the homeowners.
