A council dweller wouldn't of left their kids on holiday like that, not for the sake of a tenner.Tight bstards, i feel for the kid, the parents are selfish and it's cost them.
Actually, to be more precise, i'd say it cost Maddie.

I think they were totally incorrect in their actions. Whenever abroad with wife and sons we never never left them alone. To our sacrifice of a quiet dinner or dance. We WERE responsible for them no one else. Full stop.

It is a crying shame this has happened, and I would not wish it or other misfortunes on others nor my, sorry our children. But you have to take responsibility.

They showed a lack that night.
I am not a doctor although wife is a nurse, we would not have had the treatment they have had.

My sons are teenagers now and I still watch over them like a hawk when possible. I know you have to let go, but I have a `kin large lasso :p

You're quite right. A council dweller would gone on holiday and left the kids home alone to fend for themselves..

Is this an irish roman catholic thing like the bloody sunday inquiry, agitate enough and the government will throw millions at it even though there is no new evidence to merit new inquiries by the police.

I'd say it was cynical exploitation of the system by the McCanns. They still live in a big house mind - let them throw their own money at it. Their guilt is their guilt - not the taxpayers.

Responsible parents are NEVER out of earshot of children as young as that, unless they've got reliable babysitters within earshot.

Have to say I agree with most of the sentiment on here. I just can't understand how a parent could leave their children alone to go out for a meal, especially in a place where so many strangers can come and go (albeit Madeline was in a locked room..presumably??). And I certainly wouldn't do it in a strange place, abroad or in this country. And not just for fear of someone doing something to them, but anything can happen whlie a child is sleeping, and its not uncommon for ours to wake in the night and want us, especially if they're not in their own bedroom.

I seriously wonder if their constant forcing of this in the media is due to their guilt as much as their grief?

I think this post is losing sight of what matters. A little girl is missing through no fault of her own, every penny of tax payers money is well spent, 2 million pound in the grand scheme is nothing and much better spent on her than a sports tournament. I don't care if that figure multiplies by ten or twenty, her life or justice for her life is paramount, whoever is responsible for her vanishing should be brought before the courts and if its a peadophile ring (and god i hope it isnt), it could crack something far bigger and save the future lives or misery of dozens of children and give closure to many parents.
Every childs life in this country is immeasurable in value be they rich or poor, they do not choose what they're born into thats why we as adults have a responsibilty to protect them without prejudice.

Then afford every missing kid the same millions - not just the celebrity kid.

This case has stunk to high heaven from day one.

A "kidnapper" is alleged to have sneaked into a hotel, past a 24 hour manned reception desk, straight to a room containing children but with no adults present or baby listening service in use, gained entry without forcing the door, ignored sleeping baby twins (surely much more valuable for whatever purposes the "kidnapper" intended), took a 4 year old without waking her, exited the hotel still without waking her, and never left a trace of evidence.

On the other hand, the McCanns are both doctors with easy access to sedatives, they had such drugs with them (while they were on their holidays???), they wanted to keep all of the kids quiet and in the room while they had their boozy meal with friends, there was a 20 to 30 minute delay between the McCanns returning to their room and them raising the alarm, paramedics who attended the scene have said that they had difficulty in waking up the baby twins, the McCanns refused to allow the twins to be blood tested for the presence of any drugs.

I doesn't take Hercule Poirot to figure out who did what to whom.

No sh*t sherlock?
Is that true or just internet hear say?
Do you have any evidence?

They went on record saying as much when they returned to the UK and were interviewed on television. They were alleging that the Portuguese police were incompetent and had wasted valuable time by treating them a potential suspects - then they left Portugal in a big hurry and went on every TV show they could milking sympathy.

Then, when they wrote their cash-in book about it all, they started to claim that the "kidnapper" must have drugged the twins - but hadn't ever mentioned that previously.
