Was pestered twice yesterday by Salesman offering the attached ......

Had to get quite offensive to get rid of the first guy, who was pressing me to at least have a 20 minute demo. (He reckons he will lose his job without booking 5 demos a day!)

However, a neighbour is seriously considering having his bungalow roof treated. I reckon it's a complete waste of money.

I would be interested in your views and comments.

basic maintenance is all a roof needs.

if a tile is broken or slipped replace it. re-bed the verge or ridge when necessary. reinforce the felt at eaves if it needs it.

the tiles will wear out in their own good time. until this happens just enjoy the roof for what it is - the first line of defence against the weather. it is going to get dirty - so what!

you do NOT need to paint a roof ffs.

They claim that the wall coating insulates, but if this is just a coating, then it is clearly false and I would inform the local TS at their local council, as this is likely to entice people to purchase in the current economic climate

They also make misleading statements about moss and algae on the roof which I would suspect to be contrary to advertising/trades description legislation, and again would rope in the unsuspecting homeowner.

Perhaps this is one for one of those "House of Horrors" programmes to see what the sales rep actually says?

It is true that roofing is main part living place.So we should maintain the roof with carefully.Slipping roof is very potential.You can use tiles on your roof that will be decorate with different color.

painting a roof.. lol. not quite as bad as pressure washing them but close. shouldnt moan about pressure washing really. couple of local companies set up washing roofs. 2/3 months later i usually get a call to fix a leak and find mortar blown out of joints and valleys.
but back to painting.. what a laugh some people have.

oh if anyones interested i have just invented a life jacket for dolphins.
