Hi,
my washing machine has decided to sound like a jet engine taking off, when on the spin cycle.
It sounds like noise mufflers have been removed.

i have checked the concrete weights, they are secure and no sound of knocking, the WM is level.

any thoughts?

Open the door, cup your hand up against the chassis and with your fingers, push the drum up.
If you can feel a little give/movement (other than the normal circular movement) its very likely the bearings may have gone and will need replacing. Crap bearings is a great way for HP to make a wm last just long
enough for the warranty to expire.

thnx for the replies.

Is it a straight forward job to replace the bearings?

Not possible to change the bearings. It has a welded tub & can't be split, you have to buy the complete wash unit. At nearer £200 it wouldn't be economical. Best advice.....as long as it doesn't keep you or your neighbors awake run it into the ground then dump it in a skip & buy a new one.

The only thing i'd add on zippers sound advice is avoid hotpoint/indesit in the future if you want longetivity also avoid stuff from china check rating plate for origen dont realie on the make
