phoned the transporter yesterday (wednesday) the telephonist said she would get someone to call me back..... Still waiting

Thats odd!

I waited all day for National Grid to come to fit a new gas supply pipe in the street!

No turn up and no telephone call!

Is that normal for Nat Grid?

Pity they dont seem to pay compensation for missed appointments!

Can anyone refer me to any statement relating to compensation for missed appointments?

The appointment was made solely by a telephone call about a week before from a down to earth person who would have seemed totally trustworthy. But NOTHING in writing or email.

Very annoying as its all outside and there is no need for me to be there at all !

I spoke to the transporter they say that its legit for the contracter to just patch a concrete or tarmac drive up. Even though the trench runs the length of a whole section they arent obliged to worry about how it looks.

If this was me I would be absolutely fuming.

Afraid i dont know the laws regarding this, but i'm sure you are being fobbed off. You might want to check out www.gardenlaw.co.uk. They have a lot of members who really seem to know their stuff.

I would probably write to them and give them 14 days to bring it up to standard and if they don't, you will get the pro's in to do it and send them the bill!

Our experience with SGN has been good on reinstatements.

Internet forums are full of people who want to advise you about the Law.

I'm not going to join in that debate but I would suggest you allow them to reinstate and complain afterwards - if necessary.

When I got back this afternoon they had filled a couple of holes, not the ones i've been moaning about on here these are smaller about 1 m sq. It looks like a kids done it they got slops all round the edge. I dont think theres enough acid in the world to clean it up.

It may simply just be worth taking legal advice now. They can keep fobbing you off personally 'til the cows come home, but unless they are correct in terms of their legal obligations then they will have to make appropriate and satisfactory reparation. Let the legal boys sort it out.
