Im likley to be building an extension to the fireplace in the living room to give it a false front, this will allow me to inset my tv and it will look all fancy. however I want to fit a log burner which will no doubt throw out some serious heat. I want to protect the wood frame, Surrounding plaster and the above TV from the heat but i have no idea where to start, Obviously im not going to be able to use standard plasterboard, and I imagine heat resistant plasterboard wouldn't be enough either, What woudl you recommend?
Other options would be to brick around the lower part of the frame or put concrete slabs or something else in place and then render those with a fireproof substance.
I could in theory just build the lower half of the fram out of breeze block or brick if thats a better option?
Thoughts?
thanks
