Iv done a quick drawing of the upstairs plan of my house, and was just asking for an opinion, on best route for 22mm flow and return to pick up rads.

(x) is were the rads will be total of 11 upstairs and down stairs.

Iv also added in different colours possible routes off flow returns.

I know drawing is not the best but you should the idea.... I hope :)

was just trying to reduce the amount of tees ect, would you saythe orange was is better or the purple.

Orange is better.

Try and run in 22mm and branch off for radiators in 15mm.

Check out where you can run, especially check if there a RSJ in way.

Sorry, but the advice of just take the easiest route might not be correct, there are detailed explanations and dimensions of where joists can and more importantly cannot be cut, I know 99% of those fitting rad pipes will ignore or not even know of the regs but they are there just the same! it's referenced in BS6891 (pipework) which is for gas pipework but will be the same for the water pipes as it's about safety of cutting the joists rather than what's inside the pipe

My drawings were definiitly better :D

I don't know if shorter is always better, ease of install is just as important as is access for any future additions or maintenance.
