Old socket, old wiring, new cladding.

The sparky on site was insistent he was going to over sleeve....(well, tape.)

He was only loosening them off for the wall cladding!

When you say 'old wiring' do you mean that the entire installation was in old colours? If so, I hope that he also put a sticker on the CU, otherwise the totality of what he's done (or not done) might actually be non-compliant, Jobsworth or not :)

Kind Regards, John

So he put some tape on, but didn't bother to put the CPCs into individual sleevings or install a link to the back box

Is that a requirement?
I would say that neither is 'good practice' - so maybe one could 'get him' with BAS's favourite 'catch-all' regulation about 'good workmanship' :) However, I don't think the regs specifically forbid two CPCs in the same sleeve, and omission of a link to the backbox is, I think, again theoretically compliant if there is a satisfactory earth connection to a fixed lug of the box via a faceplate screw.

Kind Regards, John

Someone is either too thick to read and understand, or too lazy to want to bother.

Either way someone should not be working as an electrician.
