I thought you said scale we not a problem on these boilers?
Lime scale is not a problem PROVIDING that the boiler is operated at the correct settings.
That would normally be done by the competent installing engineer and then rechecked by the engineer at the annual service!
I can never understand why some people get boilers fitted by unregistered builders and then never have them properly serviced every year.

It was installed by Intergas certified and GAS safe (CORGI??) registered engineer - just wasn't serviced on annual basis. Installed in 2010 so roughly 5y old.
If the installer was Intergas registered then it would have had a five year warrantee!
But to validate the warrantee the boiler needs to be serviced every year!
If he was Intergas registered then we are likely to know him. Also we might know where he has "disappeared" to.

I called Intergas and they told me this unit was on 3y warranty. They only started doing the 5y from 2011?
Will look at Intergas website for their recommended installers again, hopefully will find someone who can have a look at it...

Step 1 diagnosis - I would like to understand what is wrong with it and how much would that cost me before I commit.
Out of the country till 3rd of Feb but will defo call you on Monday - just to see what do I need to get ready for...
