Still getting over johnmerednecks post from yesterday

Not bashing Muslims as not all Muslims are followers of Islam, many thousands of them are Christians.

If there was ever an example of mis-informed, clueless posting that wins the award.

Do you actually understand what a Muslim is?

I think you know the answer already !

I'm reasonably sure that I do know the answer!

I'm more interested to understand if the chief of the Muslim bashing brigade has a clue!

One answer you lot have avoided though -

OK, so the toys are out of the pram and thread has been locked.

Still waiting for a sensible answer to my question about what good the ROP does in the world - or our country for that. Want to hear some examples of where they give, rather than take, take, take.

This seems to be a massive stumbling block for the supporters on here. Here's your chance to tell everyone why we're wrong to only see bad in the ROP. Let's hear the good points - surely there must be one?

Still waiting for a sensible answer to my question about what good the ROP does in the world - or our country for that.
It does no good whatsoever; it is a religion.

Our, and other countries', leaders will not and cannot denounce it as nonsense because they have to maintain their respective equivalents in order to control their population.

Islam is not a religion. It is a system of life that covers politics, the best way to abuse women, the military, finances, what you wear and what you cannot wear, where you can sh@it and where you cannot sh@it etc etc.
Secondly, I think it is obvious to Christians that Islam is its polar opposite and I believe nihilism lies between Christianity and Islam and that the morality of Islam is inverted.

Gogle wrote...
So to reiterate – Islam is not a religion because:
1.It is an amalgam of social, political and judicial systems as well as a belief system. It is neither one thing nor the other – Islam is unique
2.Philosophically it is as far from other religions as it is possible to be. It lies beyond nihilism and its morality is inverted.
3.In society Islam functions in the opposite manner from all other religions. Rather than producing peace and social harmony, it sows violence and social disruption.

At the very least we must call into question this Islam-is-a-religion trump card that its defenders have been playing so successfully

In your opinion, Are comparisons of religions linear?

As none of the ROP apologists can come up with a sensible answer, I have been thinking about this and the best I can come up with is that they have introduced us to traditional curries from the sub-continent.

Seriously, I like curries (as long as they don't contain any meat).

OK, I admit they are not quite in the same league as things such as microprocessors, MRI scanners and penicillin, but a contribution to society nonetheless.

Well on the basis that I believe that all organised religion is simply a way of controlling the population (and always has been) I'm not going to promote one over another.

If you want a list of positive contributions made from the Arabic world then here's a few:

Coffee
Camera Obscura
Chess (in it's modern form)
Glider
Soap
Distillation
Crankshaft
Pointed arch
Dome construction
Anaesthetics
Dissolving sutures
Inoculation
Military explosives
Trigonometry
Cryptography
Carpets
Crystal glass
Carpets
Cheques

How many of those are from ancient times (pre-reformation), Newboy?

Yes, the arabs invented or discovered many things in mediaeval times and earlier and, admittedly, were once a more advanced civilisation than our own.

What about more recent times, since they began to come to Britain in large numbers? I think that's what the original questioner implied.

To celebrate this series of events, an article titled “How Islamic inventors changed the world” was written by Paul Vallely and published in The Independent on the 11th of March 2006. This inaccurate piece of writing has received much praise from Muslims and is still being widely circulated on Islamic websites, forums, blogs, and is even used as a source (to validate false claims of Islamic inventions) in over twenty[1] separate articles on Wikipedia.

Yet again the rednecks ask a question, get an answer, don't like the answer but can't provide any information to counter the original answer.

The least you could do is ask nausecon to try his friend Gogle (sic)!
