The tragic part is that the likes of reindeer gives them his full support...

"Similarly, I am respectful of the wishes, dictats, taboos of any religion,"

His own words.
The guys a pc arzewipe. Not an insult. Just the truth.

Is he saying he is respectful of female genital mutilation?
Johnmeliar demonstrates how deserving he is of his recent award:
Female Genital Mutilation occurs in non-Muslim societies in Africa and is practiced by Christians, Muslims and Animists alike. In Egypt, where perhaps 97 percent of girls suffer genital mutilation, both Christian Copts and Muslims are complicit. Thus, it has long been concluded to be a cultural practice, not connected to religion.

Religious views on female genital mutilation (FGM) vary even within the same religious tradition..../ but the practice predates Islam, and is not required by it. The only Jewish group known to have practiced it are the Beta Israel of Ethiopia. There is no unequivocal link between religion and prevalence.

I'm surprised if you have the intellectual ability to put one foot in front of the other. You certainly don't have the intellectual ability to check your facts before making stupid and inaccurate accusations.

You'll be qualifying for a new lower award at this rate.

Just remember, not all muslims are followers of Islam. A lot of them are christians.
Does it also follow then, that some christians are muslim? I suppose some are pagan, others are budhists. There may even be some who are sikh.

One answer you lot have avoided though -

Still waiting for a sensible answer to my question about what good the ROP does in the world - or our country for that. Want to hear some examples of where they give, rather than take, take, take.

One answer you continually overlook:
Page 27 of the locked thread.
tell us all what's good about islam? What positive things does that religion bring to the Western table. We've told you the bad aspects that are all coming home to roost - now, no BS, lets have the good side as you see it?

Page 28 of the locked thread
I believe that religion does serve a useful purpose in society. I'm not a supporter of any religion, but neither am I antagonistic towards any religion. I'm ambivalent towards all religions. (for johnmeliar's sake Islam is a religion. ) Similarly, I am respectful of the wishes, dictats, taboos of any religion, when in the company, surroundings, etc of the followers. It's their core value, why should I disrespect it. If I wanted to disrespect someone there's easier ways than to insult their values. In my opinion, insulting someone's values is like insulting them and hoping to get away with it. It's like insulting someone's relatives or friends. You don't have the balls to insult someone directly so you try to dress up your insult in a way that you hope to evade a reaction.
Religion is a force for good in society, it picks up the pieces that politics, and sometimes families, fails to recgonise or accept. It represents the values of a large group of people.

But I abhor and denounce radical extremists of any and all persuasions.
They serve no purpose other than to exacerbate the situation.

Pluralism is alive and kicking. Lets uphold that sense of pluralism rather than try to destroy the very foundation of what western democracies are based on.

I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass.

Well on the basis that I believe that all organised religion is simply a way of controlling the population (and always has been) I'm not going to promote one over another.

If you want a list of positive contributions made from the Arabic world then here's a few:

Coffee
Camera Obscura
Chess (in it's modern form)
Glider
Soap
Distillation
Crankshaft
Pointed arch
Dome construction
Anaesthetics
Dissolving sutures
Inoculation
Military explosives
Trigonometry
Cryptography
Carpets
Crystal glass
Carpets
Cheques

Good attempt, but my question was more present day than a list of inventions, many dating back thousands of years. Thinking more along the lines of humanitarian activities, nobel prizes, charity, helping other nationalities/countries, modern day art, the arts, music, culture, contribution to industry (not just the arms industry), economics, world peace.

Military explosives

That was a stroke of luck, wasn't it??

Ok, that's Iran off the hook - although a worrying number of your examples seemed to appear only on Iranian media sources on the net.

Are they an anomaly that is capable of doing something useful for mankind or are there other examples from different locations.

The ROP seem to be their own worst enemies when it comes to giving themselves bad press. Seems if you dig really deep, there are isolated stories where they have done something creative.

Military explosives
That was a stroke of luck, wasn't it??

Yes - it gave the Christian crusaders who were attacking them quite a surprise!

Still we've managed to develop our extensive range of military hardware quite well since then!

It's one thing to use something they have developed such as explosives on other combatants 1,000 years ago. But do they have to use it to take their revenge on packed underground trains in the 21st century?

Degradable Polymer As Wound Dressing?
Have you got the patent number for that? Any evidence to suggest the inventor is a muslim?

Amazingly enough I've got better things to do than search out readily available information on your behalf.

Here's an idea - try to look for it yourself and then come back here with some hard facts rather than the usual bigoted drivel you seem to enjoy posting
