I have a leak from the waste pipe contraption at the back of my toilet so I was thinking of replacing it all with just a McAlpine flexible pan connector WC-F23R. I believe that the fins on the end of the connector are designed to fit in a 110mm socket. From the photo, the cast iron socket on the soil pipe seems rather large. I don't have a very good way to take any measurements. Can any of you experienced plumbers look at that photo and tell me what size it will be? Are there any cast iron sockets that are larger than 110mm?
Is the WC-F23R suitable for the job? Will I need anything else to make this connection?
Thank you.

silicon, is what I used on some tempory toilets it did the job.

but it seems it is rusting a little on underside. So it may be worth swaping the whole pipe.

Set aside 10 minutes of your time to wrap the iron socket with Denso tape, job done & put the kettle on. :D

Trust a scouser to be as rough as a badgers bum eh la........But I totally agree, the easiest way to do it & will last for years........ ;)

Sorry for late reply. I am liking the sound of the Denso tape. However, I ought to say that I think the leak is not actually coming from the cast iron joint. I think it is the next joint along between the rubber lip and the yellowing pipe. Does denso tape work on anything?

I'd be tempted to remove the plastic and redo. Replace what's needed to future proof it as much as possible.

I'd also look to seal up what looks like an old overflow pipe beside it too.
