What other forums think of us

Hmmmmm.

Not quite the response I was expecting.

I see Ban gets a mention.

Had hoped this forum might have been held with higher regard.

We all make errors from time to time. What I see as a problem is once you write something which gets you banned from a forum you have no way to retract what you said and it needs a moderator to remove it.

Some one (Guess who) wrote this report on one site, which, to be fair was reasonable at the time of writing. However the guy was banned for some reason, but the report remained pinned to top of the forum. Since then things have changed and it is no longer valid. But it still remains.

Before Part P I will admit I also looked at house bashing as the lowest form of electrical work. It was often done by the semi skilled and we really saw so horrid workmanship. However much I did not like Part P and felt it was a form of taxing I must admit it has changed the skill set for most of the electricians working on domestic.

In fact as far as regulations go I would say they know them far better than most commercial guys.

The forum to linked to seems to be electricians talking about some finer points and as I have said many times most people can't DIY without breaking some of the regulations so we hope that our advise is some what modified from following regs by the letter or we would simply say no to every question.

When working on large jobs you always got a few electricians who would harp on about 12 week wonder electricians and how they should be stopped. I found that 95% of the time if you checked these were electricians who were originally electricians mates who managed to get electricians cards when JIB started up. In other words they were worse than the 12 week wonders they had not had any formal training.

I would guess the poster on that forum was some one who wants to get work by stopping others doing the job rather than doing a good job themselves so getting repeat work.

You will notice the moderator has told them this is unacceptable behaviour and says the post will be deleted.

Although that statement from the Mod was posted over a year ago, but the thread remains closed but viewable...
