Hi All,
I have a problem with the outside light.
Basically it wont turn on, ive had the magic poker that lights up if there is any sign of voltage all around the switch.............no voltage.

ive tripped the breaker and put it back......nothing.

Someone said "Change the bulb incase its switched neutral"

I am familiar with the fact its switching the neutral rather than the live.....but why would this be done???

cheers

Rubbish ! it should never be done !

Regards,

DS

p.s. are you sure there's not a fuse connection unit hidden somewhere that supplies the outside light ?

You mean like this?! At least it was somewhat accessible

I changed the bulb to no avail!
Had a look at the connection to the breaker switch, prodded with a screwdriver and I HAVE THE LIGHT!

Working with that I decided that it is a loose connection!

I had a look, the screw was loose! I used all the strength I could muster and drove it home!

I now feel as if Thor himself has blessed me with the mysterious ways of the sparky!

Cheers all!
