Done as you said mate, connected everything back up except orange and yellow, no fuses blown, power from both sides of chocky block
Connected orange and white wires, turned alarm on at consumer board, blew the fuse.
So ya think.its the PCB, time for a new alarm then. Cheers for all.your help mate

Looks that way ....Euromini is the replacement for that panel around £60 plus vat , probably easier for an older person as you can use a fob to set/ unset

Cheers, that was gonna be my next question I suppose, what if any system would I more or less just be able to put in place of the sterling 10. so would it be the Euromini or the Euromini prox, or would it not matter ?

Have a look on alert electrical website £57ish plus vat complete with prox keypad , fobs around £4-5 each

Had a look, but all the technical bumph bamboozles me, all I know is this sterling alarm has 2 sensors and smoke detector wired in to it, so I would just want a system that would take them I suppose

Cheapest option would be a veritas r8 , any panel you get will need some sort of programming some easier than others , if your a bit unsure get a couple of quotes from local installers or ask around friends and family for recommendations

funny you should say that, I have a texcom veritas 8 installed in my house, this was installed around 2008, was ok for about 3 years, then all of a sudden it kept going off, flicked switch at RCB and killed power to it, never attempted to put it back on since lol. But its a simple alarm, so it might be just the job for my mother, cheers
