I'm having a new roof and agreed to strip the old roof myself to save a bit of cash.

Me and my missus were at it all day and still didn't get all the old tiles down from the scaffold. My legs are aching from just sitting on the roof, arms aching from shifting all the tiles and head aching from the fear of falling through :LOL:

I enjoyed it but it was much harder than I thought so well done all you roofers for the hard graft!!!

Fair play!

I had a quote from a landscaper to completely redo our back garden. It was just over 10k and part of the job was to move about 30 tonne of rubble out the garden down the side of the house and out the front. I asked him how much cheaper if I do it, he said 2k cheaper. I thought easy, do it in a week. It took me and a mate a week and a half and my back hasn’t been the same since! From then on I just don’t get involved and let them do the lot.

Good luck with the roof.

Yes she is a good'un, balls of steel that girl!!!:LOL:

Called me a pussy for not liking being sat on the ridge

My backside went through a few times higher up then we cut a hole through to get the tiles down the stairs

Why are you saving tiles ? Just skipped mine roof cleared in about an hour .

We got good money for the same ones off the porch. We were thinking save on labour, save on a skip and get some cash back. I'm going to batten a building in our garden with the rafters and sell the hips and purlins.

We have about 10 rubble sacks of broken tiles that I can loose at work, then we will be just left with the old felt.

I used a gorilla tub on a rope to get my new tiles up and yeah even that was hard work. That scaffold looks expensive. You not tempted to diy the roof now you’ve got a taste for heights, surprised a man like yourself isn’t tempted?! Then again if you’re paying for that scaffold by the week ..... :D(y)

I was tempted but after thinking about it we decided it was best left to the professionals. We have done the loft floor and stairs ourselves so made a good saving.

They start on Monday and reckon 5 weeks to get it done, then we will insulate and board it.
