I’m laying a 20x10ft slab shed base but I’m not sure what I need under the slabs. I’ve been told a few things, 1-just 4 inches of sand, 2- just 4 inches of type 1 mot, 3- 4 inches of type 1 and 2 inches of sand. I thought I’d come online and ask you guys. Can anyone offer advice?

Well, my only experience in this area was laying an extension to a driveway, which was a base of compacted mot with concrete on top. I think mot for a shed base is a bit of overkill, I would go with sand and slabs, maybe with a membrane under to prevent growth through, but I'm not an expert, so bow to superior knowledge!

I would make a dry mix, 8 parts sand to one part cement. Mix thoroughly and rake level. I did mine to about 2" and it's fine for me. Flags on, tap with a rubber mallet to get them all level. Make sure the finished height is slightly proud of the grass to encourage drainage. Good luck!
