hi guys

We got a Worcester boiler and rads fitted last year. Having issues with the install that have still not been fixed since May, that's another story.

I have contacted Worcester for advice on their accredited fitter about the repairs and checked gas safe. He is not registered with gas safe but his operative who was on hols at the time is.

Gas safe have told me to register a complain. What are the implications if I do this for my system? Do I need to pay for any remedials, will my system be condemned. What a headache!

Thanks for any advice

How can an accredited fitter not be GSR? Weird. Obviously lapsed since registering with Worcester? I am sure you have to quote number. It may be his COMPANY is accredited, not him directly?

Either way, the value of accreditation to the consumer is over rated, apart from sometimes qualifying for a longer warranty. Have you told Worcester? Did they mention if the warranty would be void?

No doubt some Worcester men will be along :)

The company is gas safe registered but only for one of his staff. I'm assuming he normally give the Gas works to the lad. The owner did a great job in general, with the exception of the minor issues we have.

I haven't mentioned to Worcester that he is not GSR personally as I don't want to invalidate the boiler warranty. I'm trying to get my head round what to do next.

He is a silly man, I'm assuming he could have done the plumbing work and left the other guy to do the gas side of things

Ps the company is bronze accredited

Whether your installation will be condemned will depend on whether there is anything wrong it or not. If your installation wasn't registered with Gas Safe, you need to contact the installers to make sure this is done. They also need to fill in the Benchmark in the back of the installation manual if they haven't done so already, because that is required as part of commissioning the boiler and validating the warranty

Accreditation just means you fit a lot of their boilers. Bronze accreditation means you fit quite a lot, Silver means you fit more than that, Gold more than that, and Platinum more than that. There's no test of installer quality to get the accreditation as far as I'm aware, it's just about how many of their overpriced plastic-filled boxes you can manage to sling onto the walls of unsuspecting Joe Public every year.

Thanks muggles.

The benchmark book was filled out and signed by the installer and I have the guarantee from Worcester.

I didn't know the boiler had to be registered with gas safe. Is this the same in Scotland and what should I have received?

Cheers

Yes it is the same in Scotland, you should have received a registration certificate direct from Gas Safe

Thanks muggles.

The gas safe website says the registration certificate doesn't apply in Scotland, with a link to the Scottish Exec website, which is no use at all.

Is there any Scottish fitters who can advise what the situ if fir Scotland. I have a signed benchmark book and Worcestee warranty certificate but not sure if I shoukd have had some building control warranty or something.

Thanks for helping with my stupidity, I shoukd have asked to see his badge rather than taking him at face value. He gives you good installers a bad name.

We don’t have to notify boilers in Scotland.
Doesn’t affect selling house etc like it can south of border
