Well, it is supposed to be a headbanging emoji, but it didn't work for some reason.
It was in response to you writing "would of".........

You will see later i had responded with 'would have', when i responded i had in the back of my mind 'surely he wasn't referring to this . Anyway. EFL you're great i value your opinions most of the time, but ffs you and anyone else care to spend this long pointing out small grammatical errors, i don't have time in my life to care debate or listen.

I have read about Chernobyl and Fukishima and the potential envionmental disaster -I believe there is a cover up.

Mind you that wasnt the point you raised in your OP.

I agree it was clear from the outset the Russians foolishly believed for a moment noone would find out. I wonder how many other breaches have occurred where the source wasn't discovered or detected till long after.

Fukushima for sure another disaster they were clearly playing down. The amount of contaminated water TEPCO massed early on from attempting to cool the rods. Early satellite footage showed on a daily basis more storage tanks appearing to hold the contaminated water whilst they were denying any issues with cooling.

n fact I was complaining about "of" which is written by people who clearly do not even realise what they are saying when they speak; let alone when they write.
It should be "would have" - even if you choose not to pronounce the aitch (other people and BBC please note there is no 'h' at the start of 'aitch').
There is no verb "to of". "I am going to of a cup of tea".
Ferkin jeez man,,,,you must drive your Mrs nuts....I am mild compared to you.

I am going to watch this I think, purely because it happened in an era I am interested in. I'm very interested in European history generally but particularly that period immediately after the detente (warming of relations) between 1969 and 1976. Towards the end of the '70s and into the early '80s especially, Eastern Europe was a grim place and incidents like Chernobyl for me highlight that grim period.

Interestingly there have been events in the decades prior to 1986 which could have had far worse consequences, such as the accidental dropping of nuclear bombs over the US mainland and aircraft that have crashed with nuclear weapons on board. Some of these weapons are still missing I believe.

I was thinking about staying in a glamping site neat Sizewell B. Suddenly put off!

Look for somewhere between Margate & Folkestone - only 35-45 miles from one of the largest nuclear power stations in the world.

Agree and that's the shocking naivity about Chernobyl, they were intially hoping that noone outside of Pryp'yat would know there had been a meltdown and a compromise of the reactor walls. How many times has this occurred where it wasn't discovered?

Have read about the Goiânia accident i posted further up, also fascinating how knaive some people are and how ignorant the authorities were over highly toxic radioactive waste.

PLease feel free to post any more on this thread, great toilet reading ;)

Did anybody watch the documentary about designing and building the new shield to go over the power station.

Really interesting and watching the final run was edge of seat stuff!.

Surprised there wasn't more media coverage of it to be honest..

They have robotic machines inside now that are taking it to bits and casting the waste in concrete "blocks" for disposal.
