Got an IP cctv camera. Near where it needs to go under the soffit is a junction box that used to feed electric to a garage (garage removed last year). Can I take the plug off and wire straight in to the junction box?

Ah ha, of course, not sure why I didn't think of that!

Any suggestions? Maybe an external socket connected, and a box of some sort to house it all in? Looking for outdoor socteks with extra deep covers, can't find any ...

I stayed on a small caravan site owned by an "electrician", around the water filling station he had installed trace heating, he used indoor JBs, and had built a little timber house round each one

Trying to work out what I will do with all the other cable now ... the current junction box is more or less where I want the camera, which sounds ideal, but once I have a socket and somewhere to hide the cables away, not much room.

Starting to wonder if I should pull that cable back into the loft (assuming it doesn't run along inside the soffit) and put one of these up, then feed through just the cable I need ...

Apparently the POE should work on the camera, I might need to either plug it straight into the router rather than the splitter, or get some sort of POE booster? Anyway, if I can get POE working, that'll be much easier to install all round.

Right, 2 junction boxes removed and socket put in loft - only had one made for dry wall so used that. If i decide to upgrade the cctv i now have a way to power it in the loft. Original camera was sent back as failed to record all the time. Now using small camera powered by usb.
