I am having a loft conversion done at the moment, I had wanted to install a level access shower tray either wedi or impey foam core, but the builder says there is a steel joist in that corner running full length along the wall and he says a standard tray would be better however ther would be a lip, but can the tray former be laid on top of the steel instead of timber batons as usual..

Can't see why not myself, just needs a level deck under the former for support.
More work to do this either side of a steel though... Timber would have to be built up from the steel's webbing to catch the ply.
So, depends also on what your builder priced for and his schedule!
