Hi All,

I want to add a new Ricochet device to my system (for the first time) but wanted to understand best practice from those in the know.

Initially, I was going to mount the device, learn it in etc and job done. Now I've found that I should take the lid off, flick a jumper into commission mode, leave for 20 mins etc.

What's the right way!?

Not sure there is a right way as such.

I know I differ to Texecoms recommendations.

The way I do it is device, near the keypad, learn it on, stick it up in situ and then place panel into comissioning mode.

I then look at ricochet monitor to check its complete before taking out of commissioning mode.

during this time I recommend you get a brew and watch ricochet monitor go through its paces.

Brilliant, thanks mate.

I need to look at this Wintex software as it sounds like it’s the bees knees. I have a SmartCom (the latest one, think that’s what it’s called), can I connect via that?

Yes

generate an app code from your phone/ smart device and use that.

Thanks Chap,

And does flicking the jumper into commissioning mode automatically kick this process off or do I need to do anything at the keypad?

jumper n commission mode starts it and off stops it.

I would go into engineering first, just so the tampers don't make any noise.

thanks for your help again as always. Just to be clear, how can I tell from the keypad that commissioning mode has been completed?!

when you say “go into engineer mode”, is that just putting my engineer code in? No menu I need to be in?

In Wintex, there is a Ricochet menu. You'll find a progress bar at the bottom of that

As far as I know (I'm not a regular Ricochet installer), Ricochet monitor is the only way to tell when it's finished

not than I am aware of, but you can let it run for 30 mins and you should be in the clear.

thanks chaps - So learn device, engineer mode, lid off, commission mode, leave for 30 mins, remove commission jumper, job done?
