I’m looking to paint a stainless steel cooker extractor hood black. I’m unsure which primer and paint to use given this will be exposed to heat.

ideally looking for a smooth finish but don’t mind the textured finish either.
Any recommendations?

Its fairly unorthodox to paint stainless steel, but you must use a special primer.....Rustoleum do an aerosol called Combiprimer which does the job. The same firm also does top coat finishes.
The hood must be completely grease free and lightly rubbed with fine grade wet and dry paper. I’d guess you aren’t going to do this with the hood in place!
John :)

I’ll be removing the top part which easily screws away. Not sure how easily I can remove the actual hood.

Most paints I’ve seen are Matt black rather than gloss. Just not sure how the matt finish will look.
