Hi

First post, so please be gentle. My 25 year old wickes alarm stated to give problems. I decided to repalce it so I purchased an Accenta. I am fairly competent on all DIY and could see no problem. I assumed the manual would be helpful but the wiring instructions just basically said "wire it up" I realised it was aimed more at the professional. All went well and the walk test went ok. I then started to programme.

I am using 4 zones. Two PIR and two door contacts. I got into a tangle naming the zones. Without being aware I named all 8. This started to cause problems or at least problems started with triggering in zones 4-8. I put links in zones 4-8 which eliminated all problems in 4-7 but zone 8 still shows in a walk test and will not allow me to set the alarm. Has anyone words of wisdom for me. Thanks

default the panel and start again best way to learn (start from scratch you may get a light bulb moment), if you get in a mess second time around post the steps followed and the errors/ activations your getting with pictures of wiring and keypad.

Hi Thanks for your reply

In the interests of brevity I did not mention I have reset the panel (or attempted to ) more times than I care to mention. No 8 will not clear. Am I right in thinking that linking/bridging from SET to the left hand terminal PA (per manual) should reset? I have a solid (staple type ) bridge in the 8 terminals..Next thing I am thinking is reset with the bridges/links removed just to see if anything changes. Frustrating.

Have you tried disabling zone 8 through the programming rather than linking the terminals together? It could be a poor solder connection on the PCB terminals. I've seen that happen a couple of times before but usually on older panels when service engineers "nip" up the terminals on maintenance visits thus weakening the connections over time.

Hi Thanks again

I believe I did try the programming route in a very early attempt. I note that zones can be isolated each time the alarm is set, but I believe you are saying that zones can be deleted in the programming. BUT not in my more recent attempts, possibly as it did not appear to work before. Its possible that I did delete the zone for an earlier problem but then thought it had to done for each exit, so did not revisit. My ols alarm was very binary. ON/OFF they were my options! My problem if I am honest is that I will jump into something and just keep trying things gradually getting an understanding until everything falls into place. I appear to have a bit of a mental block with instructions!
Good point re PCB will check continuity.

Further to above

I have isolated zones 4-8. Zone 8 still shows triggered in the walk test. However, I can now set the system or actually I cannot. I punch in my code the lcd shows program 1 set the beeper starts and it just keeps going. Mode is timed, timer is set to 10sec (01 entered in programming as per man).
Edit: changed the exit time to 20 secs now works. This was after I noted in manual that "if the exit time is interrupted in the last 10secs then the exit time will start again after the interruption has cleared" yet they still give you a 10 sec option. I have a working alarm, but I have zero confidence in it. Opinion please Texecom veritas CFE-0001 or my Honeywell Accenta g4 mini
