Newsprint ink stains on wood table

Hi
I read newspapers on my solid, light wood kitchen table . Over time the ink has stained a large part of the table and has become ingrained in the grain of the wood.
I've tried "orange oil" which had minor success. Any suggestions without having to sand the whole table?

Baking soda. Lighter fuel also works but may damage a varnished surface .

Is it mixed to a paste, rubbed in and left on or removed immediately?
