I don't know if this is in the correct section of the forum but thought I'd ask anyway Incase it is.

I've had a rotary laser level for a few years and two years ago it got wet and the bleeper stopped working but the arrows that find the level still worked. I hadn't used it in over a year and today went to use it and the receiver isn't picking it up, even when it's very close. Very difficult to get the receiver on its own. I only found one place online but they are looking 130quid. In the eu, you can buy the full kit without the stick and stand for 215e so no point really in buying just the receiver.

I'm wanting to know can this be fixed diy and if so, what do I need to get..

Well if it`s something you really need you might have to bite the bullet and pay for a complete new kit or a very expensive replacement part.
Me, I nearly always able to make do with the "Cheapskate" method, a 3/8 inch id tube and a bucket, a bit like those water levels for use by two shopfitters but can be used by one person. You can even use it in two different rooms, around obstructions and it even takes into account the curvature of the earth to. Most importantly it "saves a shilling".
About ten quid should cover it

I don't understand the bucket. I have often used, made water levels using pipe/tube, but where does the bucket come into it?

How does that work, with one person, other than fix the pipe at each, and measure the up/down difference?
